Well, 2024 has come to close, and so has season 2 for the Great American Whiskey Cookers. it's been quite a journey.
We filmed at a total of seven (7) distillery's in 2024. Now that might not seem like a lot, but when you take into account all the pre-production, production (actual on-site filming) and the subsequent post-production work, it's really quite a lot. Just to re-cap what those seven (7) distillery's were:
Cedar Ridge Distillery (Iowa)
Blaum Brothers Distilling Co. (Illinois)
Sideshow Spirits Distillery (Nebraska)
Old Monroe Distilling Co. (Illinois)
Dueling Grounds Distillery (Kentucky)
Pursuit Spirits (Kentucky)
Seven seems to be the magic number for how many distillery's we can fit in a year. And that's because the stories we get from the distillery's fill up our production schedule. We are working on figuring out if we can swing in an 8th distillery. More to come on that as 2025 gets into session.
If you haven't already, you can watch the video below where we discussed 2024, and all the distilleries we had been at. And, I make the Kirk and the Big Human pick their top whiskey's for the year. Of course the Big Human had to push the envelope so he could have four. I think if I would have let him, he would just make it a seven-way tie for first place.
We also started pushing out all of our episodes as podcasts, so if you don't have time to watch the video's, you can listen to them. You should be able to find us wherever you get your podcasts. And speaking of Podcasts, we won two (2) podcast awards from the Iowa Podcast Association. Best Video Podcast, and Best Food & Beverage Podcast. Pretty cool stuff.
We started a new series with the Big Human Whiskey Journey, which also includes podcasts of those episodes. These are always fun. I know I have put a dent in the Big Human's pocket book. (Not that he needs my help). However, expanding the Big Human's pallet into whiskies that he probably wouldn't have tried other wise, is part of what this show is all about.
2025 is looking promising. As of this writing we have six (6) distilleries that we are planning on filming at. We still have room for a seventh, and if we can manage it, maybe even an eighth. If you know of a distillery we should visit, let us know. We would love to to tell the stories of some of the distilleries in Michigan, Indiana, Kansas, Missouri.....well you get the picture.
I want to thank our Patreon supporters. Your support and contributions are extremely helpful. More than you know in helping us to keep this channel and production going. Your support goes directly to helping us pay for the expenses to get to these distilleries. This is a labor of love, but the expenses do add up. So a huge thank you.
Here's to a great Season 3 in 2025. Stay tuned for more great stories from some great Craft Distilleries. Some special episodes and you never know what else we might come up with. We have a few things in the works. And thank you for watching.
